- Courses
- Lessons are provided either in the morning or early evening at the discretion of the school. Click on "Courses" to see the usual timetable
- Each lesson is for 1 academic hour of 50 minutes
- Homework assignments must be completed before the start of each day’s lessons. Students who fail to complete their homework or do not attend all their classes run the risk of being placed in a lower class or, if they persist, being asked to leave the school
- In the unlikely event that there is only one student at a particular level we reserve the right to place this student on an equivalent course at the correct level at Malaca Instituto where the student will receive all the benefits enjoyed by a Malaca Instituto student.
- We also reserve the right to “up-grade” all students to Malaca Instituto in the rare case that there are not enough students to create an interesting and enjoyable atmosphere
- Every 2 weeks there is an Internal School Examination
- Students who are continuing must pass this exam in order to move to the next level
- Accommodation
- Accommodation is from Sunday evening until the Saturday morning at the end of the stay. Thus 2 weeks is 13 nights, 4 weeks is 27 nights etc. Extra nights can sometimes be organised on a request basis in host families and in Club Hispánico (residence of Malaca Instituto) for those students staying in apartments. They will be charged at the rates shown
- The maximum period for which an apartment can be booked is 8 weeks. Once in the school a student can extend the booking giving at least 4 weeks’ notice
- Bank Holidays
- Classes do not normally take place on Bank Holidays. To the best of our knowledge, the following are Bank Holidays in 2011:
6 Jan, 28 Feb, 21 & 22 Apr, 2 May, 15 & 19 Aug, 8 Sept, 12 Oct, 1 Nov, 6 & 8 Dec
-
Prior to 21 days before the course: we will refund all fees paid less € 60
-
Between 21 days and 5 working days before the course: we will refund all fees paid less € 150
-
Last minute cancellation/No show: If the cancellation is during the last 5 working days before the course start or in the case of "no shows" we will refund all fees paid less 4 weeks of course and accommodation fees. (No refund for courses of 4 weeks or less)

Conditions relating to under 18 year-old students
The following rules and conditions are designed for the well-being and protection of our younger students.
1. Going out at night
It should be understood that in the south of Spain a "Mediterranean timetable" operates. This means that people of all ages tend to go out much later at night than is the norm in some other countries. As a result it is quite usual for youngsters in the 16-18 year age group to come home after midnight several times a week, especially when they are on vacation.
We ask that our students do not abuse this lifestyle and we also ask our host families to let us know if any of our younger students are behaving in a manner which they feel would be inappropriate to a Spanish youngster of the same age. We also ask that our students staying in host families let them know where they are going and when they expect to be home.
We would normally expect students of this age to be indoors no later than 01.00 during the week and no later than 02.00 at the weekend. It should be noted that we cannot of course physically enforce these rules and they are intended only as guidelines. However, continual abuse of them may result in disciplinary action being taken, which in serious cases can result in a student being asked to leave the school with no right to any refund.
On evening activities organised by the school we require that students under 18 return to the school with our staff at the end of the activity.
2. Alcoholic drinks and other drugs
In spain it is illegal to consume alcohol under 18 years of age. As a result it is not allowable for students to purchase or consume alcohol at events organised by the school. Please do not ask our staff to break the law by serving you if you are under age.
When students are out on their own, they are, of course, free to do as they like within Spanish law. However we do draw their attention to the potential dangers of drinking in hot countries. We also draw the students' attention to the fact that the Spanish police take a tough line with regards the possession and consumption of illegal drugs.
3. Attendance and academic rules
In order to allow a class to progress at the same rate and to maintain the cohesion, harmony and dynamic of the class group, we ask that all our students follow certain rules. Especially when our method of teaching is taken into account, we feel that the following are particularly important:
- students must attend all their lessons
- students must be punctual
- each day’s homework assignment must be completed before the beginning of lessons
Failure to fulfil these requirements may result in a student being placed in a lower class, not receiving a certificate of attendance and, in extreme cases, the school reserves the right to ask the student to leave without right to a refund of fees.
4. Insurance
We strongly recommend that our students should consult their travel agents concerning taking out travel insurance which should cover them for cancellation, personal belongings and medical care.
